Regrets are like bruises on our soul. No one can see it except us. Although, it seems like a short word but it has enough power to break us. Regrets can cause dissatisfaction and anxiety. It can also cause heart problems if you are enduring it for a long time. It is quite painful that life has only one shot and you spend it regretting. Mostly, people realize their mistakes in the last phase of their life (probably they realize it sooner but it is more intense at last stage of life). But at that time they can’t go back and rectify their mistakes. We all are human beings and we all make mistakes. Sometimes, we face Karma in form of regrets. Psychologists say that regret and guilt is the basic cause behind many psychological and mental issues. Recently, a research has been made on some patients taking their last breath. Below are the 7 Things People Regret the Most Before They Die.
#7: I should say what I mean
According to a survey, most of the patients have regretted that they were not able to say things that they really mean. Like they can’t express their love to their loved ones. They were not able to properly deliver their idea that would be fantastic. They couldn’t take their stand when required. Time is like a flowing river you can’t have those waves back and same is the case with life. You can’t reverse it back. So, this regret was on first position.
Our biggest regrets are not for the things we have done but for the things we haven’t done
― Chad Michael Murray
#6: I wish I helped the needy
Yeah! If you are really sincere with yourself then you couldn’t forget this. Most people regret any situation in which they have rejected or turned down any request. Seriously! It hurts the most. When someone treats you in this way then you realize that yup you also had treated someone in the same way. But then you can’t take your words back because it is too late.
#5: I wish I followed my guts
Your guts are your own guts! No one can feel for you the way you can feel for yourself. It has been observed that people regret later when it comes of taking a crucial decision in life. But the question is why people don’t trust their inner feelings in issues like marriage, business, studies etc. Trusting others in taking your decisions is the most fatal thing ever. You hardly, get a chance to find people who are sincere with you. So, the best thing is to take risks for yourself. Most of the patients who face this situation have the view that people must trust their guts. Though it might cause them problems initially but will definitely give them satisfaction.
#4: Why I worked so hard?
Most of the people who are questioned on this situation have admitted that they were workaholic in their youth. This snatched the time their family and friends required. The fun factor faded away from their life. Although, they earned money and fame. But this couldn’t compensate the fun factor in their life. So, don’t be a workaholic be moderate in your living. Studies show that surrounding yourself with friends and family creates harmony and good balance between heart and brain.
At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent. -Barbara Bush
#3: Why I was so coward?
Well! When it comes to say I love you, everyone is coward. Most people regret it later that why didn’t they express their feelings to him/her. Living without their loved ones is the most painful part of their life. And they keep enduring that. People said that they were afraid of rejection but because of this fear they remained alone for lifetime. It is the fear which is the biggest barrier in their way. So the real fact is, fear less believe more! Surrounding yourself with love and allowing yourself to love is the most cherishable part of life creating beautiful memories.
#2: Why did I trust that person?
Yeah! Trusting everyone is harmful but trusting no one is like committing a suicide. Folks often have a question that why do they trust too much? Everyone is a victim of betrayal in this world so you can’t escape from it. But the only piece of advise I can give at this stage is to choose your friends carefully.
One of my main regrets in life is giving considerable thought to inconsiderate people.

#1: I wish I had touched more lives and inspired more people
The value of life is determined by the number of people it inspires. Helping others will not only give benefits to others but also gives you internal satisfaction. Money can’t buy you satisfaction and sense of fulfillment. People often regret that when they look at their past and wish that they could revert time back and could inspire more hearts who could follow their footsteps. But if you want to influence others then the best and most easiest way is to do good to everyone. Be caring and helpful. This can leave a long lasting impact and people will cherish you throughout their lives.
