‘Flappy Bird’ Creator Removed the Game Because It Was Too Addictive

Flappy Bird is an amazing 2013 mobile game. The game has been developed in Hanoi by Vietnam-based developer Dong Nguyen and published by .GEARS Studios. The game got released on May 24, 2013. The game features 2D retro style graphics. The graphics of the game are excellent. The game has got a little cute flying bird. You have to save the flying bird by moving continuously on the path without colliding with the pipes which come in the way. It is a single player game and the game was developed within 2-3 days.

Flappy Bird Creator Pulled the Game Because it Was “Too Addictive”:

Though the game was good enough. But sadly the game got removed from both Apple App Store and Google Play Store. The game was only designed to play in leisure time. It was just a 4-5 minutes game but unfortunately the game has become too addictive product for the users.

Flappy BirdRecently, the developer of the game namely Dong Nguyen gave an interview to Forbes, and explained why he decided to remove the game. The developer of the game tweeted,
Dong Nguyen @dongatory : I am sorry ‘Flappy Bird’ users, 22 hours from now, I will take ‘Flappy Bird’ down. I cannot take this anymore.
According to the statement of Nguyen,

‘Flappy Bird was designed to play in a few minutes when you are relaxed,’ ‘But it happened to become an addictive product. I think it has become a problem. To solve that problem, it’s best to take down Flappy Bird. It’s gone forever.’

The game got huge popularity on basis of financial point of view. Nguyen was earning $50,000 through this game on the daily basis. He said,
“I don’t think it’s a mistake,I have thought it through.”.I don’t know the exact figure, but I do know it’s a lot.”
Nguyen explained that his entire comfort and normal life got disrupted. “I couldn’t sleep,” he said, of the weeks following Flappy Bird’s surprise rise to fame. Although there were many rumors about why the game was removed. According to some, Nintendo had threatened to sue him, as the pipe graphics in his game were copied and taken from Super Mario World. However, Nugyen denied this all stating that these legal issues didn’t force him to take the game down. Moreover, Nugyen explained that he will also remove his other games Super Ball Juggling and Shuriken Block if he found that these game have become addicted products too. Nugyen also mentioned that,
“After the success of Flappy Bird, I feel more confident, and I have freedom to do what I want to do.”

and that he has still his two popular games Super Ball Juggling and Shuriken Block, in the top 20 of the App Store. He will continue creating other top app store games. The game was launched last year but got sudden popularity this year. The surprisingly popularity of Flappy Bird game further led eBay users to list their mobile phones for sale with a copy of Flappy Bird installed.
